Not sure exactly when that'll happen this year due to the screwy weather, but last year it was about the 2nd weekend in november in western washington. I like to use "the can" and maybe a little doe juice.
Usually the pre rut is the last week of the season. This is when the bucks will do the most moving. Later they will be dumber then dumb, but I have most of my luck in the second/third week of the season.
When calling coyotes, more often than not they will circle on a target they are
coming into and approach from the downwind side. Presumably they do this in
order to align what they smell, with what they are hearing.
This means that you should always have your downwind side camouflaged and have
an open shooting lane. If the area is heavily covered the coyote could come in
take a look and be gone, with you none the wiser.
