Other than the internet, does anyone know where I can purchase a
blacklight flashlight? I have looked at Walmart, Kmart, and various
hardware stores...but, no luck. There has got to be a store I can
just run into a buy one. Thanks (phoenix area)
I don't know where to point you specifically, but you might try thinking about what people use portable black lights for -- i.e. looking for residue of body fluids. I moved into a housing unit once and the manager came in with a blacklight to document every stain that existed on the carpet from previous occupants so that I would be held accountable for stains my family generated. Like I was thrilled at the concept of being charged for invisible stains.
On a side note, I realized I picked the right occupation when I saw the woman find a spot on the carpet. She put her face down by the floor, scratched, and said, "Oh, yeah...that's urine."
So you might want to ask people like cops, forensics or those involved in housekeeping/janitorial fields.
A word of advice, though -- if you find one, don't EVER turn it on in a motel room.
Yes I thought about that too..the body fluid stuff..haha..and what I need one for
is catching scorpions..I live in the desert on an acre of land. I thought it would be fun for my 6 year old son and I to do. I see one on the internet specifically
for scorpions, and I probably will order it..I was just hoping to go to a store
here locally. Thanks for the info!
Basspro and caballas should have black lights. Look in the fishing section. Black lights are used by fisherman at night to make thier line glow in the dark. The protable black lights (for fishing) work really well.
I didn't realize scorpions fluoresce. Interesting. I don't think blood and urine do without first being mixed/sprayed with a chemical that creates the fluorescence.
You probably already know this but a black light is just a light that emits in the ultra-violet range. I guess you can pick up uv bulbs now, here is an article that talks about building a uv flashlight.
Yeah scorpions glow real nice under a blacklight. I looked through the
house and saw spots where the dog has urinated..it has a light glow.
The blacklight was only like $6.00 on ebay. It gives me a headache
if I have it on more than a few minutes at a time. Thats cool about buying
the UV bulbs...thanks for the info! Walgreens sells them I found
out...oh well ,)
Moose calling can get confusing to some, but cow calling is your main tool when moose hunting. If you go out and buy moose calls I would say you're wasting your money unless it is the birch bark cone. I find most store bought moose calls sounding worse than puffing a grunt your hands to make the call. You can roll up a piece of birch bark in a cone shape to use as a call and spend your money on a video that teaches you the basics of a cow call. A milk jug or a coffee can with a hole and a rope...
