Black Hills Archery Elk

I was lucky enough to draw a 2014 Black Hills Archery Elk tag. I'm in the lower unit which is hwy16/Custer south. Curious if anyone has any advice on where to go within the unit, and if they know anyone who has had luck archery elk hunting in the hills. This will be my first Elk hunt.

so how did your hunt

so how did your hunt go...hope you had luck...southern unit is one of the hardest to be successful. i've hunted it during rifle many times and its not easy to locate animals. few and far between.

The results!!

The hunt went very well.  We hunted hard in early Sept, and then went back out again in late September.  We saw a ton of elk sign, a few cows, and probably 10 bulls.  I shot at a bull early (60 yards), hit a stick and missed clean.  I'm glad I did though because on the last day of the 2nd trip we had a nice 5x6 come within 5 yards and I shot him at about 12 yards.  Right in the heart.  Went 60 yards and passed away.  Great hunt!
