Well it started off really fast, I didn't even have time to make a call when a nice looking little boar walked in. I would say he was about 150 maybe 160 but that would be pushing it; but a gorgeous looking bear. Today I had decided to take my father in law with me so he could take his second bear ever and he was glad to take him, so it ended up being a very fast hunt for him he loved it 5 mins and he had one down. He was so eager I had to tell him to wait for a closer shot. He wanted to shoot it as soon as it hit the gully but I urged him to wait, as I knew the little fella was comming straight in with no regard.
As I watched him raise his old lever .308, I knew this bear was'nt going anywhere and crack the bear flipped and landed dead right where it was then rolled down the hill. One shot one kill he whispered. I laughed and told him not to use my saying. What a start! So we decided to jump down and pull him to the truck so other bears were not dicouraged to come in. Then back we went to the treestand.
We watched and waited for about an hour when he said he forgot his drink in the truck so he wanted to run and get it, so he slumberly walked down the ladder and dissappeared into the bush. Then 15,30,45 mins go by and no sign of him. He had decided he was going to gut his bear right away so didn't come back down because he didnt wanna scare any other bears away. Well thank god he decided that because about 7:00 I spotted a great looking bear walking into the the weeds of a little swamp, and I knew this was the bear I wanted but smaller. So I watched in amazment to how smart this bear was, and knew that it was alot smarter then the last, taking two steps at a time and sniffing vigoursly in the air. I readied my rifle and waited as she then dissapered into the thick brush again. Impatient isnt the word when one minute you see a great bear then the next it's gone so I swung to the left glaring at the brush waiting for it to come into the open again and there it was walking straight to the bait, but very slowly.60, 50, 40 I counted down the yards 40 was where I decided to take her down. I aimed, held , and squezzed my trigger like it was my baby cause there was no way in hell she was going anywhere. Well that 260 pound bear hit the ground right where she was and didnt even twitch, perfect shot to the neck through the heart and out the right shoulder. Also to most people that believe that all bears death moan, I got news for you they don't if thier not givin the chance. Neither bear shot tonight death moaned they both died instantly, and thats my story hope you all enjoy it. I had a great hunt and wish everyone the same.
