That was my plan to, wait and see what kind of deal I could find, but after some research and hearing reviews I went to Cabela's just to look through them and get a hands on feel for them. That's when I broke down and lost all sense of patience and common sense and bought the pair on the spot

Kind of reminded me of the time I bought my first car. Just went to look and ended up asking the salesman during the test drive if I could drive it off the lot that day. He got a big grin and there was no bargaining after that. I'm sure they added a $1000 to the asking price as soon as he heard me say that
I was thinking about the 8x42 for more light gathering but opted for the 10X. I've hunted with both the 8X and 10X and really prefer the higher magnification.
