Bill C50 - hunters!!! A call to action

There is a proposed ammendment to the Criminal Code with the well-intentioned purpose of beefing up laws against cruelty to animals. Unfortunately it has some glaring oversights which open to door to anyone harvesting an animal while hunting or farming being charged with cruelty to animals. Please contact your MP to demand that this Bill be clarified to exclude hunters/trappers taking game by legal methods, and/or farmers slaughtering their own stock for food or to end suffering of chronically ill animals.

Here's the link to the actual Bill:

http://www.parl.gc.ca/38/1/parlbus/chambus/house/bills/government/C-50/C...

This is the passage of particular concern. Para C seems designed to protect hunters, however the door is left open by the terms brutally and viciously in para B not being defined, and the specific reference to an immediate death being irrelevant. (Also bear in mind that most hunting kills are not immediate - swift yes, immediate - no)

Thanks for the link. This does open up a can of worms for hunters. Animal rights are looking for any loop hole they can find to stop us.
