I wonder where he is going
I wonder where he is going that it cost $30,000. The outfitter in the link that I provided only charges $14,000. Granted you have to buy your tag, transportation and taxidermy fees but you should be able to do that one for $20,000 for everything

Oregon give a few non-res tag
Oregon give a few non-res tag a year, the tags are almost $1200, but i think you have a better chance at winning the lottery and then get struck by lightning twice all in the same day.

It seems like the ones that are within my price reach are impossible to get. Do those guys you see on TV just pay those astronomical prices every year to get a ram? Maybe the advertisement the outfitter gets by being on the show is payment.

castlerock outfitters is a
castlerock outfitters is a dall sheep outfitter in alaska. not a rocky mountain bighorn outfitter in canada. 2 different places with 2 different animals. The op was asking about rockies not just sheep. I am very familiar with castle rock as i used them in 2007 for my dall.
you also need to figure in tip, transportation cost, taxidermy and other little things you don't think about. unfortunatley sheep hunting is a very expensive and addicting sport. To pull a tag in the us i would go with some type of service. that way you can get in all the drawings. but if you do this. be prepared to have about $3,000-$4,000 put out money every year. New mexico charges you over $3,000 to apply but you get it back. every state is different. Some states you put up the fees in advance others you don't. but most require you to buy a hunting license.
