big game hunting and ATV use

Hey bull buster great bulls! I definitely could tell you similar stories, I killed my very first bull thanks to two guys on atv's driving by. The bull waited until he could just hear them and then crossed the road and went up the other side of the canyon, I was sitting on the point across from him and let him have it. But when it comes to the bigger bulls I have taken in closed areas where I hunt, guys sneak in there on there atv's and I could have five bulls bugling. As soon as they here the atv's it can take up to three days to get them located and talking again. One of these particular bulls we have been after for four years in a row , we named him City Bull, and he will break the 400 inch mark. Atv's are great when used correctly, I don't have a problem with them.

It's the same argument as "guns don't kill people, people kill people". ATV's don't go where they shouldn't ATV riders do and that's where we have to attack the problem.

We can't limit ATV use during hunting seasons because well.....we can't be so full of ourselves to think we should own the moutain during hunting season. Public ground is public ground and everybody should be able to use it year round. If a hunter on an ATV violates the law and goes where there is not a marked trail or established road then they are in the wrong the same as the average Joe doing it outside of any hunting season.

I encourage all of you to turn people in......be "uncomfortable" a few times and during a few hunts to let these people know we won't tolerate this. You know you would do the same if you someone poaching a 400 inch bull.

Exactly!! My biggest problem is when you do tell the FS or BLM they can't go in after them and most the time they wont waite for them to come out. The other beef I have is the fact they are not happy with the roads they have closed they keep wanting to take more, when does it stop? The BLM right now is wanting poeple to come and tell them about roads that they may not know of. I'm afraid they are looking for more to close down. They have already closed too many where I hunt.
