That is a whopper non typical. He is a beast. I have hunted that country before but have never seen a deer like that. I have to assume that buck fever would set in pretty bad if he walked out in front of me. Do you know if this picture was taken on private land or was it on public ground? You can just lie to me and tell me it was on public land because we all know that is what we are hoping. It just feels good whenever you see someone get a big buck or bull off of public land. It makes us feel like the rest of us common folk have a chance. Good luck to anyone that has a tag for the unit that that toad is hanging out in.

Big Colorado Buck

Nice!  I couldn't find that big boy, had to settle for my typical 5x5!  There are definitely a lot of nice bucks in the NW portion of Colorado!

I wouldn't be too worried about "settling" for one like that.  That's a heck of a deer!  Congrats!!!!

Very impressive buck right

Very impressive buck right there!

Congratulations on that brute!

Just curious, are you originally an East coast guy?  I'm just asking because you call this a 5X5 and most mulie hunters don't count the eye guards when counting points (unless there is another point on each side that we can't see in the picture).

4X4, 5X5...never mind, who cares?  That's a monster that I would take in a half of a heartbeat!

Congrats again!

If he was an east coaster, it would be a 10 pointer.... Wink

I think 5x5 is right.  Sometimes they have eye guards, sometimes they don't.  You should be able to count them if you get one that has them. Thumbs up

That deer is off of the charts, that is for sure.

I am not very familiar with mulies and how they run / score - but he looks like every hunters dream.

I am in SC and our deer just pale compared to that, even when you factor in whitetail vs mule deer.

One day I will be lucky enough to get out there to go on a hunt like that and even if I do not pull the trigger, I hope to see some of the brutes that you folks have out there.

First I have to get my tag on a big bow killed whitetail... that is what I am working on right now... they I can step it up and notch and try for some other species.

Man, that is a bruiser of a buck.  I love antlers with palmation.  Definitely lots of character and the picture is fantastic too.  Bedded buck with no idea he is being photographed.
