Beware of Outfitter

I recently returned home after two days of a six-day bowhunt at Eastern Canadian Outfitters in Mer Bleue, Quebec, CAN. If you are a serious hunter as I am, you may not be very satisfied with this outfitter. If you are a causal hunter, looking to shoot does, or small bucks, you might do OK. Bow stands were very low, in the open, and noisy. I was specifically told I'd be placed on acorn or beech ridges for my hunt. Instead I was made to hunt low ground and didn't see a beechnut or acorn one, even though I was told two weeks earlier, "There are acorns and beechnuts falling like crazy." This was a complete waste of my time and money! Never to return.

Different point of View

I'm always sorry to hear someone had a bad hunt!
I've booked with Eastern Canadian Outfitters now for a couple of years and done very well with them. They have been as accomodating as any outfitter can be and I took a nice 10 point buck my first year there while one of the others missed a really nice 8 point. This year I again took a buck and once again one of the guys missed a really nice 8 point at fairly close range that ended up being taken two weeks later. I am heading out west this year but my buddies are going back for a third year. Everyone's experience is different but I'd have no problem using this outfitter again.

Well there you have it guys!

Well there you have it guys! One newbie with only two identical posts that's saying he went home after two days and another with one post that says the outfitter is great and he'll continue using him. I take these kinds of threads with a grain of salt when it's not from a member that's been on a site for a decent length of time before they post this kind of stuff! It's always especially interesting when a post like that is made and all of a sudden a new person registers to tell you how great the outfit is! How do we know who these people are and whether one or both are just looking for a free ad on a site.
