Best place to live in NW colorado

Im looking for some ideas of some of the better places to live in Northwest Colorado. I bowhunt and want to find a place that has good elk numbers. If anyone has any ideas on where this may be that would be great. Sorry for the broad range of question but I have to start somewhere. Thanks for your help

Some questions for you. What type of work will you be looking for? Very small towns here, with limited job opportunities. Have you been to NW Colorado? Are you familiar with the towns and landscape? All the towns are very small, with Craig being one of the larger towns. If you like ski towns, Steamboat would be a good place to look at. Meeker is a very nice small town, with easy access to the White River National Forest. On the other side south of Steamboat Springs are several small towns, Oak Creek, Yampa, Phippsburg. There is good access to the WRNF from that side as well. You don't have to limit yourself to just the northwest corner, you could also look at Rifle, Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction areas. Grand Junction is the largest town on the western slope, and is still pretty close to all the great hunting. From Grand Junction you could also venture south and find some super hunting.

NW Colorado does have some of the largest elk herds in the nation. Lots of good hunting for mule deer and antelope as well. Also great fishing and camping.

Oh... and welcome to BGH! Big smile

Do the rest of your fellow humans a favor and do not move to Colorado. It is over-populated. Well, so is the earth but who's counting. Except for me. California needs more people however. As does China. Take as many with you as possible. Mexico could use some hard workinig gents too.

Guess you haven't been to NW Colorado! There are a lot more critters than people here.

You all are just plain mean!

Hopefully you are asking b/c you are retiring! Thumbs up

Not all Coloradoans are gonna try & sceer ya away! Cowgal hit those towns on the head, all great places!

I also have to agree on the job front! I am currently looking for work and have expanded my searches intot he NW corner, but the jobs seem to few and far between! One of the places I would relocate to given the opportunity. (Greeley area is not much better on the job front right now! banghead Brick Wall,)

Welcome to the site, both of you newbies! neener!

Im actually not looking for a job. I work in the winter on the east coast and am looking for a ranch type property for the summers until I retire. Just was wandering about some of the towns in the area. Thank you for the helpful posts.
