Best Pig/Brush Caliber

I killed 3 today. 1 with a 41 mag and 2 with a Rem. 870 using 3" #2 steel. I,also, use my savage 308 and marlin 922M 22 mag. It all depends on the terrain I will be hunting in.

Gotta love all the calibers that were mentioned above. One of my favorites is my 45/70. I just bought a .50 Beowulf upper for my AR 15 and hope it soon becomes one of my favorites.

I just bought a new hog slammer today. It is a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. Can't wait to try it out.

Saw one of those at a pawn shop I do a lot of business with today. Sure was tempted to pick it up.

I put an older Bushnell Banner 2.5X scope on it. The scope is exremely bright & clear. It should be the ticket for hogs/deer here in the woods of Georgia.

Well I hope you have good luck with it. Thumbs up Thumbs up I may wait a couple of weeks and go back and see if it is still there. Probably wouldn;t hunt much with it, but it would be a nice change of pace every now and then.

I've got the same 35 remy in a marlin... mounted with a leo 1.5X4 scope. It's a great saddle gun, and I personally think that it out performs the 30/30 within 100 yards. The heavier bullet will especially be beneficial when whacking hogs. No recoil either, which is nice sometimes. I traded in my 416 rigby double for a 470 nitro express merkel double. I'm interested to see what 500 grains at 2150 fps will do to a feral hog. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait a month or so before getting the chance (moving houses...sux). Cry

I would be worried about that 470. It may not be enough gun Laugh

As they say, no such thing as too much gun.... It's an expensive hog though when it's shot with a 470.

I Like My 44 Mag But, Don`t Forget The 223 Works Well Too

My 1st pig fell way of my 44 mag Winchester lever action but, this past winter a head shot at 80 yards dropped this fattie with my M-4 5.56 rifle
