best over the counter rifle?

I am also looking for a good scope and I found this one on http://www.riflescopes.com. Its a Simmons Pro-Hunter 3-9x40 Gloss It that a good gun for a 30-30 at about 100-150 yards? It also was 60$ and for me thats the price thats good. So sould I get it.....

I think it is a good choice for the price and will serve you well on the 30-30. It will have no problems shooting out to 150 yds.

I have a 256 win and had a lot of luck with it its like a cannon but the end results are good

The 256 Win mag. is hard to find ammo for, isn't it? Do you hunt deer size animals with it or stick to varmints? It is a handgun cartridge as well. It would be a cannon in a handgun much on the lines of the 357 mag.

Why not a 7mm Rem Mag...its a 338 necked down to a 284 if I remember correctly. It has good range and knock down power but not as much kick as the 300 win or wthby mag's. It will kill anything in the U.S. that you have unless you venture to Alaska and then it is usually the minimum required calibre there by guides.
