Best Elk Load for a Browning XBolt 300 wsm?

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a scramble mode to find a great commercial load for my new Browning XBolt 300 WSM. My dad and I are headed on a 10 day elk hunt in Colorado and I don't want to screw this up. It's an epic trip for the two of us as we are typically only able to hunt white-tail deer. I also wonder what the best load is for this rife when hunting smaller game such as deer? Good luck this hunting season, and thanks in advance for any/all suggestions.

First off welcome to the

First off welcome to the forum.

Now for a couple of questions.  What have you been shooting out of that 300 WSM?  For elk and or deer try and stay with a good bullet in 165-180 grains and you should do OK.  Stay away from the ballistic tip style of bullet since they are designed for a rapid expansion.  They would work OK on a deer but on a elk you need something that is going to penetrate a ways to get to the vitals.

If it was me I would look at the Nosler 165 grain partition or a Barnes 165 grain TSX bullet.

In my 325wsm X-bolt I've used

In my 325wsm X-bolt I've used Nosler Custom ammo with Accubond bullets with very good success on elk.

You can't go wrong with any

You can't go wrong with any of the bullets mentioned or the weights listed. Just make sure they shoot well in your your rifle and your good to go.

What season are you hunting as 10 days is not really one of the normal day counts? The regular seasons are 9 and the early one I'm going in is 11. Or is that the whole duration of your trip?

Good luck regardless and I'm sure you'll have a great time. My dad and I will be hunting together as well as we almost always do. Enjoy every minute and make as many memories as you can.
