Guys

I have been working on the wife for years now and I think there is hope - she is finally at least willing to talk about getting a dog!!

After suffering through numerous cats, I feel I deserve one!!!

I want a people friendly and house friendly dog - that can take being alone each day while we are at work - and I want a dog that can be trained and have a natural aptitude - to become a tracking dog for deer that have been shot and now must be tracked.

I lean toward short haired dogs and the two breeds I originally wanted were one of the Heeler dogs or a Staffordshire terrier.

What are the best dogs out there for this purpose that also meet my requirements???
