Hummm!

I see you made this post to make a point. The facts are if you hunt more then one type of game you need more then one weapon. If I seen a guy with a rifle in a duck blind I'd laugh the same goes if I seen a hunter on kodiak with a shotgun with the idea of taking a bear I would laugh then file his sights so it wouldn't hurt so much when the pulled the gun out of his/her .........................

Well, it is one of those "What if..." scenarios, you know, like if you could only grab one gun in a survival situation, which one would you want to lay your hands on, that kinda thing I reckon.

That's why I have a safe full myself. If one gun did it all like I wanted, then that is all I would have. Well, maybe not, but I don't reckon I'd have as many as I do now.

At elk camp, I wish I had two more shoulders so I could'a toted my shotgun for the grouse I nearly stepped on, and my 10/22 for the #(*&%(*&^% squirrel that wouldn't get outta my sweet spot!!!

300 wby is a great round. Did you ever think of the 300 win mag? The ammo is much less expensive and more common.

please delete this thread immediately! If my ole lady sees that I can do all that with one gun she will kill me. I've been telling her that I need a different gun for every animal I hunt. and each year a new gun is needed because things wear out ya know! so all this talk of one gun is quite disturding to me. Are you trying to get me killed? lol

I hear that, i told wife wanted a lower grn shell for 7mm for yotes, then could go buy 338 mag for bigger animals, Big smile --she doesnt believe me just the same, her therory is you can only shoot one at a time. Cry - Big smile
-But i think i got her convinced on my 'need for bigger cal.rifle 'though, i hope
-->would have to agree with the 12 gauge being versitlie, but its not something i'd want to hunt grizzly's with.

Man I tell you what, that new 204 ruger is the medicine for those 'yotes. I plugged one at 250 yards and he didn't even move except straight down. I shot him right between the eyes. Now ask me where I was aiming. lets just say that the little dude has more wind drift than I allowed for. I didn't tell anyone for a while. I was showing him off to a few friends, and they would say something about what a good shot and all. Then my dad asked if I meant to hit him there and I had to come clean.

I've found that the advertised speeds really aren't attainable. at least not in a 24 inch barrel. but 3800 fps is fast enough (last chronographed). anyway, the little dude shoots tiny groups at 100. I know its a tiny bullet, but when five of 'em are touching it makes a pretty group. The best I've personally done is .44 inches but it shoots .6- .75 consistently. Wind drift with the little devil is the tricky part. On that coyote, he was standing basically broadside maybe slightly quartering away. I mouthed squeeked at him to stop him. he turned his head to look in my direction. I aimed directly behind the front shoulder. there was a slight crosswind of I would estimate 5 mph or less. so I touched her off, and was surprised to watch him drop in the scope. anyway, the only thing I can think of is that the wind pushed the bullet some 6 - 8 inches in 250 +/- yards. which isn't out of the realm of possibilities. Heck,I could have misjudged the wind. It might have been 10 mph.
