Bears only at night

Once a week baiting is just right !!

u do not want to spook the bear , or scare it,, the more u go there the more contact with the bear and this will bother the bear a lot and make the bear either go nocturnal or worse abandon the site ..

if u wanna bait once a week ( which is recommended ) u should make sure u have plenty of food to last the whole week, so that's at least 250lbs of food, the more the better since there is 2 bears u should have plenty of food for both and who knows u may endup with more bears by the season opener, now that u got those bears back u should do everything u could to keep them there and to do so u need plenty of food !!

make sure u bait early morning,, not later then 1 oclock the most , around 10 -11 would be great,,it will take 6 hours for ur fresh smell to die from ur site,so the last time u should be near ur site is 6 hours before sunset,, by doing this the bear will come feed 1 hour before sunset which will give u good one hour to get this bear before dark..

give the bears time to leave the site without been spooked by u, sing or yell on ur way there so u don't spook them ( only when delivering food ) stalk when u come to hunt (more about this later),, do not invade their bedding because they picked this site for bedding believing it's a secure site , u take that security from them they are gonna leave for few weeks before they come back or worse never come back,, do not disturb them until ur last day of hunting this way u know u got nothing to lose .make sure ur site is ready for the hunt, like adding boughs to ur stand , make it invisible and make sure u r comfortable up there so u can last the long hours waiting for the bear to come feed, if ur site is not ready do what u gotta do now , this is the perfect time to fix anything that need to be fixed, don't wait for later , by doing it now everything will be back to normal by the season opener.

make sure u make a soft trail and stop driving ur atv or truck to the site, use sled to deliver baits from now on,, a sled will also help soften the trail so when u are ready for hunting u will walk on it un-detected , you muist make the soft trail to use it when delivering baits and also for the season opener ,,!! if u make noise before u go on ur stand the bears will not come. I can provide more info regarding this if u want . just let me know.

if u don't know what to do or what to wear on ur opening day let me know , do not ruin ur chance , nothing wrong with asking , that's how u become better !!

for baiting i'd say continue using what u been using,u can add grain and fruit on top of what u been using , apples are greats!!
let me know ahead of ur opening day to give u a treat that u can use to lure them fast .
go buy high rubber boots at least knee high and soak them in water for at least 3 weeks to get rid of the rubber smell and then air them out for another 2 weeks, by the season opener all stinky weird smell will be gone .. u have no idea how imprtant rubber boots are when hunting bears !! i will explain this to u later ,, also buy scentless soap . when hunting season finally open i will explain everything u need to know to get on ur stand and trick this wise bear .

if u know all the tricks for bear hunting that's good if not let me know,, there is few things u need to know and do while hunting these smart animals .

I will draw a site for u with the soft trail to use when delivering baits and when coming for the hunt,, make sure u use the trail every saturday so by the season opener it will be soft enough for u to come un-detected !!

Thanks HoTm00n!! Always a pleasure getting great advice.

I haven't heard the rubber boot trick. What's it all about?

OK let's start from the begining !

1- Rubber boot
2- Plastic sled
3- camouflage clothes used for HUNTING ONLY
4- Scentless soap
5- normal clothes to use for BAITING ONLY
6- Camouflage gloves
7- camouflage headnet or face paint
8- bug reppallent

When baiting,, bait around 10 and try to finish 6 hours before sunset . Use the same clothes u wear when u bait everytime . do not use any other clothes ,spray bug reppelant around ur tree stand everytime u add fresh bait, once finished place the baiting clothes in a plastic bag and hang it outside ur house . Sing or talk on ur way to ur site .
Add baits the same day and the same hour once a week wearing the same baiting clothes . use the plastic sled to haul baits to ur site and use the same trail on the same day same hour everytime !

What bait to use :
use the baits u been using and add the following :
fruits, meats, sweets, grain and cooking oil .

Grain
dump 5 gallon of corn, 5 gallon of oats, 5 gallon of water, 5 gallon of wheat, 5 pound of sugar and mix together and store them in a big clean gallon for 10 days with the cover on stir well every now and then , then dump it in the barrel at ur site .

Sweet
on ur hunting day u take 10 lbs of apples and cut them into small peices using rubber gloves while doing this then pour some chocolate and honey all over and store it in double plastic bags to keep the smell in and only take it out of the bag and place it at ur site , always use rubber gloves. ( the rubber gloves should be wiped by scentless soap before touching the sweet bait. Do this with extreme caution if u r alone and try not to make any noise at all, if a friend is walking u to ur stand on the opening day let him do it while u go on ur stand without any noise from ur part.

Meat
any meat scraps u r allowed to use.

Cooking oil
speard them all over ur site and on top of ur meat scraps

Fruits
smashed watermelon, apples.

Opening day.
the day prior to opening day u add fresh baits 6 hours before sunset , spray bug reppelent on ur tree stand then u leave and go home and wash ur hunting clothes and all hunting gears with scentless soap including ur rubber boot socks, underwear and leave them outside ur house to air them out, make sure no weird smell next to them like gas, cooking, etc.. once they dry out u wrap them in clean unsmelly pastic bags.
now going to ur hunt, u take ur hunting clothes and gears with u , DO NOT WEAR THEM YET , once u stop ur truck and ready to go , u take off all ur clothes and wash ur body with scentless soap and dry urself after, then wear ur hunting clothes and spray Yourself with bug reppelent and start walking SLOWLY toward ur bait site, once u r within 200 yards start the stalk and tip toe and get on ur treestand as quiet as possible 6 HOURS BEFORE SUNSET , and wait without any movement , look only with ur eyes do not move to see what's making the noise behind or to ur left, ur concentration should only be at ur bait crib. DON'T MOVE
If u r using the 2 man approach then let ur friend walk u to ur stand while singing (him alone) and get on ur stand quitly 6 HOURS BEFORE SUNSET .

Do not bait on the day u hunt, wash ur whole body with scentless soap and rinse urself after ,, dry ur body with a towel that been washed by scentless soap also.

Everytime u enter or leave ur baiting site u let these bears know that u are coming or leaving by singing. If ur friend gonna walk with u to ur site let him sing on the way there and on the way out .
The rubber boot is sooooooo important for bear hunting, cause if u r gonna wear anything other then rubber boots the bears will know how fresh ur trail is and they will not come, if u wear rubber boots they will not know, the rubber boots will block all ur stinky feet smell ( to bears standard ) and won't be able to know how fresh or old ur trail is !

If the Bear did not show up on the first day repeat the whole thing the next day for 4 or 5 straight days.!
Do this and u get ur bear.

Now who said bear hunting over bait is easy ?!!!!
Enjoy ur Bear !!

AWESOME !!

I am very happy for u , u better keep it going Thumbs up
That blonde bear is awesome,, little small yes but keep hauling food and next year blondy will be bigger for sure and will make a nice lifesize mount by then!
Thumbs up

My only concern is the timing these pictures were taking at, it seems well after dark ! But i am sure things will change soon as long u keep using the same trail and time for hauling baits, these bears will settle in and feel more relaxed before u know it

Sorry I haven't been back for a while fellow hunters...

Does anybody know how to get rid of a bunch of ravens eating all our bait? We cover it with logs, but as soon as the bear hits, then go in and take the rest of everything!
