Bears only at night

There is quite few ways to do honey burn, each one is set to do something and it all deppends on the situation and bear behavior .

In ur case i would do the slow long honey burn, there is few way of doing the slow long honey burn but i want u to do the one i like the most .

step 1. get a large coffee can and punch 3 holes on one side of the can and another 3 on the opposite side half way up, and then cut 3 metal rod the size of the coffe can and push it thru the holes all the way to the opposite holes.. now we made a small shelf that's gonna hold the honey can. ( the metal rod should not be thick or large, i cut the pieces from a metal hanger and use it for this purppose and space them about 1/2" appart or less)

step 2. underneath the rods i place a small burning can of gel fuel , i usualy buy it form camping stores and place it underneath the rods . i buy the one that last 6 hours or more .

step 3. i get a pepsi can and cut the top part of it to use it as a small can to pour honey in and then place it on top of the rods .

step 4. make 2 holes on the top side of the coffee can and run a metal wire thur it and hang it on a tree close to the bait crib about 7 feet off the ground.

on ur first day and just before u go to ur stand, u burn the gel fuel, then u place the honey can on top of the rods and hang the whole thing to a tree next to ur crib and go on ur stand and watch the honey burn for hours .

make sure the honey can bottom touching the gel fuel can or 1/4" away from it to give it the best result .

this is the first time we see the black bear hitting the cirb in daylights ! NICE

Wow, we dropped the fresh donuts and bread off Thursday, and by Saturday they were all eaten, and our barrell was about 30 yards from it's original spot! I think we found their sweet tooths! The black boar hit Saturday , starting at 11:30 in the morning till 4:00 in the afternoon. PERFECT!! He came back Sunday too, but by then the sow had rolled the barrell and finished everything off.

I had my camera on "movie" mode to test it out, but this forum won't let me post movie files as attachments, so use the links below to see them:

HoTm00n, before I was using older bread. (it's hard to get our hands on fresh over here) They ate it, but reluctantly. Then the last couple weeks the apples were falling off the trees in the back yard, so I was taking them up. They ate them a little better, but still not as much as I would have liked. Then last week and yesterday we took up "fresh" bread and donuts. They love that!

Hey Porka

yes it is hard to find fresh bread or it's gona cost u ur whole pay check.

here'few things to keep in mind, it will help u to keep the spending to it's minimum and on top keep the bears interested and coming .

u need to do the following :

10 cup of sugar, 5 cup of water, table spoon of orange blossom water, few drops of lime or lemon .

mix all together and boil it really good, once ready it should be thick , spread the old dry bread on the ground and pour the sweet magical formula u just made all over the bread, they will LOVE IT ,, alot more then just old bread.. the cost is close to nothing !!

i also buy a jar of apple jam, raspberry jam, and add water to it and mixx really well and then pour it on top of the old nasty bread ,, bears will give u a tip for it !!

there is trillions of ways to keep the cost to it's minimum and the bears interested,, I thought u knew all the tricks.

I make my own bread and add few things to it to make it irresistible to bears, it does require few hours of your time but the cost and the result worthy the effort, if u r interested let me know..... JUST ASK !

Hey HoTm00n. When the bread is old, I pour on maple syrup. I used that in the spring and they loved it! I've also used the bulk popcorn butter stuff that's pretty cheap. They loved that even more. lol
