Bear Pic

Starting to come out and show themselves. Even though they have been out for a while, they are starting to wander around more. Here is a pretty color phase bear that was seen this week. I hope the one that was here 2 years ago is still around for this Sept..

It is always nice to get

It is always nice to get those back yard pictures with a bear just crusing through looking for someones trash to dig through.

On a side note and if I remember right there was a movement to try and get the spring bear hunt back in Colorado since there are starting to be more bears than anyone can handle.

A person can only dream.

bears

They do o.k. unless their food source dry's up. Everybody does a good job with the trash. However, my friends dad had to shoot one in the middle of the night as it climbed a ten foot high fence to kill their goat. Caught him red handed. Called the DOW and they came and took him away and his dad had to fill out a bunch of paper work. There is lots of bears and they are looking to have a good wild plumb and choke cherry crop. So, hopefully they are full and don't cause too many problems. Been getting some great moisture. Lots of Lions there as well.

We have had a bear in our back yard twice this year and once on the porch. Don't mind too much as we decided to live in there home. I would love to see the CPW get smart and do some true wildlife management and open Colorado back up to spring bear hunting.

Don't blame the DOW. The

Don't blame the DOW. The yuppies from the Denver area voted the spring season out. Along with dogs and baiting. I agree with the dogs and baiting, but being able the have two bear seasons would be good.

Some of the best bear hunts

Some of the best bear hunts that I have been on have been spring archery bear hunts where you can use bait.  It takes quite a while to get everything set up right when baiting and it really isn't just a situation where you throw out some dog food and wait.

A friend of mine just got done with his spring bear hunt in Utah using bait.  He set up two bait pilles and two trail cameras.  He would pack his bait into them every couple of days depending on how hard it was being hit.  When his season started he was in either a tree stand or a ground blind and as things go he was in the wrong one at the wrong time.  If he was in a tree stand the bears would come in from behind him and not give him a shot before they suspected something.  Then after 2 weeks of waiting and just before the end of the season he arrowed a nice color phase bear.  Another bennifet of packing the bait in every couple of day is that he also lost 19 pounds while doing it.  The nice thing about the regulations in Utah is that if you want to use a rifle you can not bait, so baiting is only available to the archery hunter.  Your bait piles must have your name and license on a posted sign above the bait pile and it also must be OK'ed by the US Forest Service if on that land and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

What you say is true about

What you say is true about the yuppies but I do blame CPW as they did nothing to combat the vote and failed in every way to use sound management practices. They failed to educate the public on the truth and just let the anti-hunters run their one sided agenda. Hope the issue of dogs does not come up for big cat hunting. If that law would pass the lions would get more out of control and the deer, elk, sheep etc. population would suffer.

Hunt anyway that's legal.

Hunt anyway that's legal. It's just not my thing. I'd rather sneak up on animals.
