Bear hunt help

Need some advice for ya'll experianced hunters.

I've applied for a controled quota bear hunt here in VA. Is on the Dimal Swamp NWR. Its a shotgun slug only and from a stand I believe. Haven't been able to get squat for info from the Fish and Game office. Its a 2 day hunt and hunters are assigned a zone to hunt. Baiting is also illegal. No scouting is allowed but the bear numbers are really high. Anyway here is my question.
If I'm drawn is there anything I can do to help improve my odds. I was thinks of bringing a couple of distress calls as this is legal. But I don't want to possible scare any off so that was a late last day option. This hunt seems to be a sit and hope ya get lucky type of hunt. I just want a bear so darn bad and want to make the best of this controled hunt.

Sounds like calling is your only option. I would start with fawn distress and move on to rabbit distress.

Would it be a good thing to do from the git-go or wait a awhile and do it near the end of the hunt?

You have to sit in a stand? I'd use the call right from the start. Make sure you bring a lunch, could be a long day. Maybe a BLT with extra fat and grease, an italian with a strong smelling dressing would be mighty good for lunch too. Will you be allowed a hunting partner? Bring the wife/girlfriend. Victoria Secrect has a really nice vanilla perfume. Evil! Maybe you listen to me. Shame on You!

If you are comfortable with stand hunting and are a bit unsure of calling then I would wait until a couple hours before you leave. If you are confident in calling then I would do it all day.

Yea I would practice and little before you go it always helps and theres no need for any other call then a rabbit distress but there are alot of other great bear calls. If there are lots of bears around one will be hungry enough to come to a rabbit for sure. Give it a shot man. Heres a list of companys you can check out for calls.
