Bear calls

I live and hunt in Oregon and we can't use bait or dogs. I was wondering what you guys think the best or most productive calls are out there?

i live in california and we

i live in california and we can't bait either I have had no luck using any calls with black bears here. I have taken 7 bears all by spot n stalking them. I have found places where there are wild berries growing and the bears are concentrated. Last year my son shot one we saw the day before feeding on the side of a mountain. I have set up in tree stands and called to bears I could see they would stop and look my direction but would not commit. I have tried rabbit, fawn bleat etc. So I don't know .I always carry a call though during bow season just to try it. The bears I hunt seem to use the same road or trail everyday once you find them. than its just setting up right place right time.

Calls

Are you allowed electronic calls in Oregon? I like to use a calf elk call in the spring. Not sure if you are spring or fall bear hunting. Rabbit calls work good for coyote but never had a bear come into one of those. I would recommend a couple of different calls that way you can mix up the sounds. I've been using the Primos brand so far. So far they bring in predators just no bears but I have been using them in the desert mostly so more than likely not going to see boo boo in the desert.

Yeah we can use electronic

Yeah we can use electronic calls. I have one by primos as well as a mouth call. and some other call I dont remember what kind. I wish we could reverse that stupid law we have. our bear and cat populations have exploded since 1996 when that law was put into place.

If you search around this

If you search around this website there is an write up on calling bears by "billythekidrock".  He is a big bear hunter from out west.  It is a good read.

I have made a few half hearted attempts in the NE to call.  No success but like I said not a lot of time put in.

If you are hunting in the

If you are hunting in the spring you might want to try a Boar-n-Sow call I can't remember who makes it. I use the sow in heat call with fair results I'm still trying to master the boar call it's a little more complicated. The sow call you suck air in to make the sound the boar you blow into the call. Mine came with a cd that showed how to make both sounds.

I tried rabbit distress call

I tried rabbit distress call this year in many different ranges and lengths of calling and no luck for me, but other guys calling for coyotes have had them come running in.
