I would use popcorn for bait and something fruity for lure. Check your grocery store to see if they have any old fruit they are going to toss the more aromatic the better. over ripe bananas work good but any fruit should work.

I don't know what is legal in your area, but I have relatives that hunt in Maine.  Alot of the guys use day old donuts, bagels, etc......

Pastries and bread, fruits, corn and I know one guy that uses drums of peanut butter.

Do you have any hog or chicken farms in the area? If so, ask them if you can get the dead carcasses from kill box they have. There was a huge bear killed down this way several years ago that was raiding their kill box. The bear was over 800 lbs.

like others had said, pasteries, fruit, popcorn, peanut butter, all should work just fine. I've heard that cotton candy perfume for kids works great as an attractant.

If legal get some fryer grease and mix it in with bread and such. Also pore some on the ground. A bear will get this stuff in the hair and pads and take it all thru the woods. :yes:  Makes a great scent trail.

A guy that I hunted with this weekend mentioned that they use dogfood with blueberry syrup up in Canada. If it works up there I don't know why it wouldn't down here too.

I've heard that works too. That combined with oats and bacon grease.
