Unless you plan on driving around, road hunting for Elk. Do yourself a favor and get in shape. If you are a hunter and on this site, I am sure you have read an article or two on this. I dont think however that any article out there says to much on the best way to get in shape, or except to say do some walking and eat right.
Stay away from the fad dieting and follow a good sound eating plan. Dont try and stop eating and starve yourself, you will only end up worse off. If you want some real good advice, you will find it in the P-90X routine. This is not a fad diet or exercise routine. This is the real deal! I started out doing it last year, but only did half the routines. I wish I did it right, right off the bat. A couple of the routines are perfect for the Elk hunter. I always thought I was to macho to do some of those silly exercises. But I challenge any hunter to do the routine for 90 days. If you start now you will be able to finish the 90 days just in time for your hunt, if not finish, you will be close. You will be in great shape and enjoy your hunt. Just follow the routine and eating plan, it isn't that difficult! The advice is sound and so are the workouts. It only takes a little over one hour a day. The biggest difference it made for me was my leg strength. I always thought I was in good shape, but I made great improvements and eat better and more than I ever have. You will look great for those trophy pictures and be in great shape. Good Luck!
