More Florida Keys sunset photos....

We found out that chasing sunsets every evening is a ritual and passion with both residents and tourists. I can see why! We enjoyed chasing them ourselves.

Cowgal, Very nice photos That looks like a great vacation, especially after this looooong winter that we have had. Did you catch many fish?

WOW! I bet it was hard to come home

It was VERY hard to come home! It was a welcome break from our very cold, snowy winter. In fact it was nice to come home and see most of the snow melted. Yeah!

Hiker, my husband caught quite a few barracuda and other fish like snapper, however he did not catch any of the fish he would have liked to, primarily tarpon, snook and permit. We were told that the cold front had cooled the water and the fish had moved away to warmer water. March can be good fishing, however if the weather cools it can mess it up. I did not fish the first few days, it was too windy & choppy on the water, so didn't go out with the guys. In the Everglades, I ran the boat so hubby could fish. We need to go back soon, I'm bummed we didn't get as much fishing time in as we would have liked to. However the beach combing & chasing sunsets was lots of fun too!

I will second that long winter stuff, why it was below 45 degress for over a week here. I had to find a coat I am looking for a place to hunt al;ligator down here now that they opened u[- some more counties, just need someone with private land on the resacas

Great pics. Thanks for sharing them. I like the one with the turtle the most. How did you make out fishing in the everglades? What kinds of fish are in there?

Hunter777, the fishing was tougher in the Glades. The water is murky, so its impossible to see the fish. Did see one huge tarpon, it was in the shallows with its fin and tail sticking out of the water! The skiff we rented did not have a pole, so we couldn't quietly pole our way towards it. My husband threw a few flies at it, but no luck. Next time we're going to make sure we can rent a skiff with a pole. I'm not sure on the variety of fish in the Everglades, I'm assuming anything you would see in salt or brackish water, but I'm not 100% sure.

The turtle photo was taken on Big Pine Key, on one of our hikes. We saw quite a few, along with all sizes and varieties of lizards.

Ah yes, the Keys. Used to live in Orlando, but also owned a piece of property on Lower Matecumbe, at marker 74. Went down to the Keys probably 12-18 times per year for about six years running.

I miss it.
