BAR with BOSS Precision

I have been interested in developing acceptance criteria to determine if my 300 Winchester Magnum with a BOSS was tuned. I have asked for input from three forums. To date, 12 BAR owners have reported group size with their BAR rifle. Seven owners had a BAR with a BOSS reported a group size of less than or equal to 1".

Therefore, a BAR with BOSS rifle is tuned when the group size is about 1" or maybe a little bit better. Additional tuning of the BOSS or ammunition adjustment will probably not result in better precision giving the data to date.

My bearly sub one inch groups probably speak more to my ability to hold steady than to the capability of the rifle. I believe that with the Boss on my rifle, it is probably capable of even tighter groups. Still, I an very happy with any groups that are consisently under one inch!

Thank you for the information. I also feel my groups would better if I didn't introduce some error. I have just started using a Sinclair front rest and a rear bag. This has helped a lot. Maybe with time I could start shooting tighter groups.

I have found the free recoil provides the best precision. What method do you use when firing from a rest?
