Is bait hunting fair chase?

If people use a 40 acre corn field to hunt off of, what is the difference between a 40 acre corn field & a 5 gallon bait pail????

I'VE GOT IT. a new invention. I'm going to sell my idea to the deer feeder call people. its just as effective, will sell for the same price but its cheaper to produce. to the untrained eye it would look a lot like a rock. its a corn field call. you push the button and it makes the same sound a corn field does and gets the deer to "come running straight toward you" (quote is from the back of the deer feeder call package)

Bitmasher, I don't think spears can be attached to ATVs, either, unless you throw the ATV along with the spear.

Here's another interesting discovery in Alabama's regs. As I'm new to the state, I looked through the regs to find out what would be involved in taking my 12 year old son out. The regs said anyone 16 or over needed a deer tag, and anyone born after 1977 needed hunter safety. Yet the regs mention hunts for youth under 16.

Confused, I called the state and asked if my 12 year old needed a license to hunt. They answered "No." So then I asked if he needed hunter safety training. The answer was, "No, he only needs that to buy a license."

So in Alabama, my 12 year old can hunt for four years without hunter safety training, but he needs to have it when he's 16 or he can't hunt.

Cob, while you're at it you might consider some other calls along the same line:

- A bimbo call that sounds like a wad of hundred dollar bills
- A cat call that sounds like a can opener
- A redneck call that sounds like a beer
- A liberal call that sounds like a TV camera
- A lawyer call that sounds like an ambulance
- A cop call that sounds like a donut
- A toddler call that sounds like parental romance.

Of course, I doubt any of these would be considered fair chase. Wink

bitmasher, LOL:-) "squirt some doe piss on yourself, but for God's sake don't go buy a game call that sounds like a deer feeder! Yikes!" You had me rolling so bad I almost fell out of my chair!

Anyhow back to the issue.... Is baiting fair chase? In my opinion absolutely not. Plain and simple....

Well now, lets see how much hate mail I'll get now!

Yeah, definately not fair chase. Also, most of those don't provide very good meat. I'll stick to the corn field deer call.

This is from Mr Wayne Pacelles Of the HSUS! Hunters are already divided, find subjects that will keep them divided and we will conquer them. No truer words have ever been spoken! Just take a gander at some of these posts. I rest my case. Thanks Buck

Give me a break Buck! Just because there's a difference of opinion among hunters - does not mean we're divided! Its obvious different parts of the country have different hunting traditions. It does not make one right and the other wrong. And what's wrong with voicing an opinion?

And who's going to decide what is right and wrong? You? I don't think so! From your posts its obvious you've got a major axe to grind.

Buck, we get your point. But the amount of venom you put into your posts suggests it may be time to change the medication. It was my understanding this was a forum for debate, not simply a podium to rant from.
