try not to disturb your bait with unnessary activitiy ,hunt in the afternoon ,bring in fresh bait or use a honey burn when you are on stand and walk in to stand not on atv. usually when there are bears coming in at night means a few differnt things, large smart bear, shy small bears,uncomfortable with bait during daylight hours,or might be to warm during the day to feed, or the bear knows you are there by smelling you and is watching you waiting for him (that has happend to me)and waits for you to leave

I agree with Milliondollarbear.....the bears may have patterened your hunting and are working around you and daylight to get to the bait. Most of the reasons are easy to remedy........limit your activity in the area to a minimum, walk quietly to your stand and try to keep your odor to a minimum. If you're dealing with a large smart bear, you may need to wait for him to make a mistake and come into your bait during shooting hours. With the cooler weather here, the bears are feeling the need for increasing their food intake and your big guy may feel he has too much competition from other bears eating the bait to sit back and wait for dark.

I've been playing with a large boar all season that has a reach of 8 1/2 vertical feet that has circled the bait during daylight hours but has refused to come in until after dark. I'm hoping that the increased competition will force him in early enough for me to get a chance at him. Good luck!

Thanks again the more information I get the better. Would you all use a spitzer type bullet (pointed soft point)or a ballistis tip ? The bait station is faily close 10 yds.and I was wondering if the psp would open up at that distance.I will be using a 7-08 with 140 gr bullets

I use a 30-06 with remington express 180gr core-lokt bullet my bait stand is about 50 -60 yds. I shot mine at almost 100yds through thick brush he was walking away from where he was supposed to go ( to bait) got him as he was on my ATV trail later turned out that he was full had no ambition to eat at my bait probly out walkin off lunch
