Yes it was.lol But I didn't

Yes it was.lol But I didn't get there as one of his "winners" was a link on one of the hunting sites a few years back and I just assumed all was well.

300 acres high fenced and would run up to a dozen guys at a time. Advertised the place as needing to bring your gps to not get lost and no mention of high fence or I would not have even considered it.

He's still in business btw using different names and switching ownership or something.

I always expect the worst anymore but do a lot more research and usually come out ok. I rarely pay anywhere preferring to DIY on public land but sometimes for things like hogs you have no choice.

Somehow I just sensed that

Somehow I just sensed that even as big as Texas is that Candelaria was the one who screwed you, LOL! It would seem that by now that enough people would have spread the word about the place, but he's definitely still in business screwing everybody that will give him a chance! That "free" hunt I won would have been $250 out of my pocket before I even got there as he requires that you pay them to process any hog at 55 cents per pound (probably cheats on the scale too), a mandatory $100 fee for what he calls guiding, as well as a "booking fee", and I've heard that they really press a person to tip them pretty good just for the priviledge of getting screwed! Maybe the OP should try them out and offer some advice, LOL!

It wasn't by the pound when I

It wasn't by the pound when I went but was a sliding scale every so many pounds and went up quickly. And If you wanted your meat cooled you had to pay and extra 10 bucks to put it in the walk in cooler.lol

Live and learn.

I think that the problem that

I think that the problem that Yagerbombs has is that this was his second hunt with this outfitter on this property. He should of known after the first time when after 3 days he only saw one small group of pigs. And then to come back the next year with some other buddies?

I myself want to pay the very least for a hunt and get the most that I can out of it, but when you are dealing with others you really need to take a long hard look at where you are going and what the conditions are. He should of known after the first trip that there were no facilities available to relieve himself so that should be a mute point. Also only hunting on 92 acres should of been another red flag that said "DON'T HUNT HERE". There are just a lot of things that don't add up when this was his second trip to the outfitter.

I too can see both

I too can see both side.

However I still think a "softer" response is warranted as it may be a poster wanting to come back and learn.

While the OP may have been wanting to "dis" a business I have to ask, for what gain? There was no mention of a competitor willing to take your money. There seems to be no financial gain for the OP, at least on the surface from what I can see. There was however something akin to eagerness and naivete.

Those are all things we had once, each and every one of us. Why put out the fire in another if that is in fact what it was?

***You asked what gain did he get by posting. IMHO guys like the OP that go on websites and make a first post similar to him are strictly doing it as a payback because they realize they lost a bunch of money through their own fault for being so trusting and naive in not looking into what they were getting into. This guy is even worse because he was already there on another tip and had the same things occur that time, only to go back again with 5 other guys! I'll bet he's not on their best friend list now. This type know they can't get any money back, but can try to ruin a business, even if what they say may be a complete fabrication and far from what went on. It's a sad fact that there are many dishonest people now making their living by screwing hunters that don't do their homework before spending a lot of money on a hunt. The days are gone when a handshake or a phone call seals a deal that you can count on as legitimate now that hunting is a big "industry". Outfits that want to cheat know they can make money because hunters for the most part are a very trusting bunch of individuals who think that everyone involved in hunting in any way is honest. This Candelaria guy and his wife are good examples in that they run a small little operation as far as acreage, but maximize profits by cheating with outright lies and deception as to what they have to offer. People need to really research what they are getting into whether it's 3 day hog hunt for $350 or a 10 day sheep hunt for $15,000 because there are people out there at all levels now looking for naive people that are there to be taken. It's not like they only have a small number of people to deal with and rely on repeat business. It's my belief that you should not take the word of a person coming on a site for a first post that does what this OP did. I want it to be a person like several of you guys that I feel I've gotten to know over a number of years by interaction on a site on a regular basis. That way I feel like I can trust you if you have a bad experience with a place because I'll know you know enough to have done your homework and maybe still got shafted. There is always that chance no matter how close you think you have looked at an operation. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I'm sticking with it as they say, LOL!

I'm Baaack

Top Gun 30-06, I'm back buddy, your all over me IMHO as you so nicely put it. Truth is guys I forgot about this site. I just happened to be browzing MO hunting and it came back up almost a year later. I just read everyone's replies and thank you for taking an interest it's fun to read. I was new to hog hunting, so seeing one for the first time was really awesome, I had no idea what to expect. With 3 guys we had a fun time camping and just being together so I thought I would bring more with me the next time. The experience both personally and professionaly was very different the second time as stated in my first post. Just because I had a bad experience doesn't mean others don't love the place and it was wrong of me to trash a business like that. I've moved on to bigger and better hunts outside of the state. Im a seasoned whitetail hunter but am always looking for new adventures and this was my first negative experience, which taught me a lot. I was pretty heated when i first wrote this post. Oh, and my name is what they used to call me in college, it goes with my last name. Hopefully this will let you breath deep and put a smile back on that face of yours  Thumbs up It sounds like we both want the same thing, great experiences and i've learned alot since going to Dakel.

Looks like what I said was

Looks like what I said was pretty true since it only took you 9 months to come back on the site. I'll still stay with my other posts after seeing the only way you came back was through an internet search and it popped up! If the OP even comes back again I'd like to know how many other websites he went on and did the same thing and has probably never been back. So much for wanting to be an active member of a site and don't anyone say others chased him away since it took him 9 months to log on a second time, LOL!
