Back from Vermont

Had a great 11 day trip with the family.  It was my son's (5 years old) first trip back since he was only 6 months old.  He's a great age now to get into everything.

He got to catch his first frog, saw a bunch of wildlife, including spottin a bald eagle, and got to catch his first catfish.  He found a nice turkey feather while we were looking at our treestands. Went looking for deer a few nights also, saw 15 the first night, and 22 the second.

Had a blast.  Can't wait till he's old enough to actually go on a hunt with me!!!

I'll post a few photos in my gallery.

cool

Post up some pics!  Every night when I was in Vermont visiting my now ex girlfriend's family I'd go sneak around the woods and look for deer.  Easily my favorite part, along with trying to identify all the foreign trees.

Just posted some at the end

Just posted some at the end of my "misc" album.  Can't upload the best one, cause it's too big, and my computer won't let me resize it.

Every year they get older at

Every year they get older at this age is so exciting as they look forward to all the new experiences and adventures. to see the excitement and desire to be just like you is a great feeling and makes us proud. Fortunately your son has a father that appreciates the outdoors and the value it has, not like these guys in the Oregon poacjing case with no values whatsoever.

Welcome back from your trip and congratulations on the many first experiences with your son.

Welcome back CA_!!! I thought

Welcome back CA_!!! I thought it was a little quiet around here. Glad you had a great trip and made it back safe. I've taken my 4yr old son out with me a few times on scouting trips this year, he's excited to go bow hunting with me in August. He just doesnt understand he cant shoot the deer with his bow, I almost broke his little heart when i told him he was still to young for that. Next year my daughter wants to hunt under the mentored youth hunt, so I'll donate my deer tag for her and take her out for that, it should be fun.

Thanks Numb. Yeah, he's

Thanks Numb. Yeah, he's really, really into the whole hunting thing, much to the chagrin of his mom... lol

He wants to do alot right now, but I think I have to pace him.  He can't hunt here for a few years, and that will only be small game.  He can't hunt big game till he's 12.

What are you doing this fall for hunts?  Did you see about the guy in Oregon that won all 4 big game hunts in the lottery?  It wasn't you was it...... Whistling

lol

wasnt me :(

I wish it was me who won all 4 hunts, that is one lucky guy. I think i read that is was the first time that has happened here.  I didnt draw a darn thing, i was a shoe in for a doe tag but struck out on that too, my dad drew it with less points than me. I'm gonna just do what i've been doing with the OTC archery tags for deer and elk, Normaly i'll go to eastern oregon but I'm gonna stay close to home this year and hunt western oregon. I'm doing a 5-7 day back pack hunt in the Cascades, I've scouted out a few wilderness areas and a few other areas that have very little roads or trails within 5 miles. now i just have to choose which one i wanna hunt Confused . All this could be thrown out the window though. I need surgery on my right shoulder and i see the surgeon on Aug 24th, i hope i can push the actual surgery out till the end of Sept. I have to get a section of my clavical joint cut out then some bone spurs shaved down and everything fused back together. that should be fun. My son is bummed he has to wait till atleast 9 for the mentored youth hunt, otherwise its 12 for big game for him to have his own tag. What do you have going on this fall?

Well, let's see.  I have 45

Well, let's see.  I have 45 days till dove opens, and 47 days till our local archery deer.  Then, I actually drew a doe tag, and hopefully will be able to get my first deer in 10 years...Ugh.  Plus, I will be going to Vermont for the deer rifle opener with my Dad.  I will only have 3 days of hunting, but maybe I will get lucky and get one the first morning.

Plus, I might work in a pig hunt in October if all goes to plan.
