Bull-Pac

Bullpac's have been an exceptional pack for hauling Buck Bag Pontoons into wilderness lakes.  Amazingly strong frame, light weight, and most important - comfortable! For pack trips or hauling meat the frame can be fitted with what they call a packsack... Great system, worth taking a look.

I have used the Cabela's

I have used the Cabela's Alaskan for about 18 years now and will tell you it is a very good pack for packing out game animals.  I have used it both with the pack and the frame only and really didn't see any problems with it at all.  Now with all the use that I have gave it I am looking at getting another one and only hope that it is as good as the first one that I had.  The frame is fine but the pack itself is showing the years of use and abuse that I have put it through.

I can't seem to find the post where I put the pack frame up for sale, but the other poster declined.  So if you want the Cabela's Alaskan frame for $20 plus shipping it is yours.  PM me your addy and I'll send it to you.  You can pay me after we know what the shipping costs.

Pack size

Gknutson- that is a pretty big range of size. Day Pack or Long trip? IME you can pull off one night with packing wisely and having very light compact gear in a bag of 2200 to 2300cu.in. 4800cu.in. Puts you well into the week long trip range with more ease. I only am asking because it is inevitable that if you have extra space in a pack you will sub consciously fill it with stuff that you will not need. It makes a good weight pack heavy in a hurry. My rule is to use as small of a pack as I can for the given situation. that way you dont add useless stuff. A happy medium is something in the 3500cu.in. My Kifaru Late season is 3200 and works for everything from a late season daypack when you have bulky extra layers to a milder weather week long trip pack.

Hope your search goes well,

Evan

I'm mostly looking for a pack to walk in hunt with all my day gear and still have room to pack out a good sized load if I do tag out. I was looking at the Eberlestock pack that converts from around 2000cu.in. to 4500 cu.in. Seems like it would be versatile. Thanks for the help Evan.
