Availability of .300 WSM ammo?

Hi, all -

I've recently heard about a lawsuit between someone named Rick Jamison and some of the ammunition makers. It seems that Jamison claimed that Winchester and others used his cartridge design without his permission. I believe that there was an out-of-court settlement that was favorable to Jamison.

I bring this up because I seem to be running across rifles in .300 WSM that are selling for a little less than they "should." I'm wondering if this lawsuit is going to have implications for the availability/cost of .300 WSM ammunition. Does anyone have any information on this? I'm probably worrying needlessly, but I have an opportunity for a rifle in this caliber and am wondering whether the cartridge could become something of an orphan.

Thanks...

Rick Jamison is the reloading editor for Shooting Times. I couldn't find anything on the legal action you mentioned.
Regardless, I wouldn't be worried about the demise of 300 wsm cartriges or any others for that matter. As for availabilty and price, there should be no change.
Civil actions for companies like Winchester,Federal ,Remington etc is just a part of doing business.

Enjoy your new 300 wsm....Good choice

Thanks, Hammer -

Here's some more information; though hardly authoritative, it may clarify a bit:
