I had a farm up there a few years ago and any of the major creek bottoms that branch off the two upper areas of the lake are good. You can take a canoe up the creeks to get to isolated areas around the lake. The Dept. of Conservation plant food plots around both the Alanta CA and Long Branch CA. I have friend in Sullivan Co. and they say Union Ridge is better and doesn't have the hunting pressure. The Alanta CA and Long Branch CA area is just close enough to KC and St. Louis they get alot of hunters during firearms season.
From the books that I have read, there is a lot of importance in knowing every nook and cranny of your hunting territory as well as the animal that you are hunting. So scouting as much as possible, just walking the land, will give you a good idea of what's around the corner or what's on the other side of a hill. Which can be very beneficial.
