Arlan and I 2014 1st shed hunt

Arlan and I finally made it out to do some shed hunting. It was a very fun and warm day.

I found the first shed of the day

And the 2nd

Arlan found two different ones close together heading back to the truck

The I found the last one on the way back to the truck on the 2nd outing

This is what we seen on the way home

Looks like someone was bbq'in

Looks like someone was bbq'in with the wrong fuel.  It always makes me wonder what happened when I drive past something like that.

Most of those sheds almost look like last years or were they a little brown?  Even with this nice warm weather I still have a while to wait to get up on the hill above me to see if there are any up there.  Right now it is still snow and mud.

Very nice, my son went out

Very nice, my son went out this past weekend and found 17 deer with only one being this years shed. His buddy found 16 deer and an older spike elk. I will be headed out with him over the 21-23 March weekend. Always a good time and you never know what you will find.

Thanks

Jim,

All the antlers, except one, where one year old. The other one was several years old, but it was the biggest of the day.

SGM,

That is a lot of antlers to pick up in one day and congrats to your son. Good luck on your up coming shed hunt and be sure to throw up some pics.

Thanks for looking guys !

Quinton

I figured that one of these

I figured that one of these days you would organize a shed hunting trip down to the Colorado River across the new wilderness area.  From what I remember is should only be around 10-15 miles down there and to think that not that many people have been into that area in the last 25 years, there should be some great sheds down there.

I actually thought about putting in for the Utah muzzle loader hunt for the Deloris Trianagle and then hiking in there until I figured out just about how far it would be.  Then I quickly forgot it.  There should be some monster bucks in there since they haven't been hunted for over 25 years.  That is unless a hunter has come across the Colorado River from Westwater on a raft.

That is one nice looking dead

That is one nice looking dead head.

I often wonder when I come across them what really happened.  Weather it was lack of food, sickness, a archers arrow, or a unlucky rifle shot that did them in.
