Arizonia Desert Mule Deer Archery January Hunt Question

I was invited to a unit 39 archery hunt in the Arizonia desert around Gila Bend on a private ranch to hunt around the hay fields by the river bottom. I was wondering if the begining or end of January was better for the Rut for these mulies? All advise and ideas are welcome!! THANKS

Re: Arizonia Desert Mule Deer Archery January Hunt Question

On average, the best time to hunt the rut in (Units 39-44) is from Jan 10 - Jan 20. I just got back Thursday from Unit 39, after spending 4-1/2 days of hunting there. We saw numerous does, but no bucks. We pushed it hard from sunrise to sundown, so obviously they're still nocturnal.

It's sure nice to witness the 'magic in the deserts' , and you can bet the farm I'll be out there then. Good luck... and Happy Trails! Thumbs up
