Arizona Preference point question

I decided that I'm going to start applying for arizona in 2011. Can I still buy a preference point for elk, deer, and goat this year? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Since all the first choice

Since all the first choice draws are over that is a good question but I doubt that you can.  If I was you I would call the Arizona DOW and see what they say.  Just be aware that to get into the draw or just put in for a point you need a Class G non-resident hunting license witch cost $151.25

Good answer

Critter is right. You have to have a license to put in for the hunts. The only time you can put in for a bonus point is during the same time the application process takes place, so you will have to wait. My advice would be, if you are going to buy the license, you might as well try to get lucky and put in for the hunt you want, if you dont get drawn you will get your money back minus the application fee ($7.50) , which is the same amount you would pay for a purchased bonus point. Hopefully that helps.

AZ wants CASH up front, If

AZ wants CASH up front, If you want to help yourself travel to AZ and take their hunters ed corse. If you are a non res. you can take the first phase of the class online then go to AZ tto take the feild coarse and final test. But be aware this is a very hard test all slackers will fail!!! They have a online practice test you must pass first to get a certificate for the field class.

I think all you hunters should try this practice test and see how you do. just enter your D.O.B.

Heres the link   www.hunter-ed.com/cgi-local/exam/practice.cgi?st=az

What is the purpose of this

What is the purpose of this test? Does AZ require any hunter to take their own hunters ed program? Or is there some other benefit for taking this test? Thanks

If you have a hunter safty card then you do not need a Arizona one, I'm not sure if you even need a card.  But if you do get a Arizona hunter safty card then they give you a bonus point on your draws.  So if you have an Arizona card and put in the first time you will have one point before the draw, then if you don't draw you will have two points.  Then after 5 years you pick up another point for loyalty.

My son and I went to AZ and

My son and I went to AZ and took the corse, we both passed but i was having problems with some of the questions wording. The final field day test is harder! You also have to pass a fire arm shooting test  the range, and blood tracking a wounded animal with a rifle while crossing fences with a rifle, and how to approach a down animal. Then you go to the DOW office and have to identify different ammo and match them to a whole sort of guns on a table. Then if you pass that then you get the final writen test.

It sure was fun and stressfull, But you get a life time bonus point for all your drawings.
