Arizona Kaibab & Bonus Points

Arizona Deer Apps will be coming up and I've done a lot of scouting in Eastern Arizona.  I am very tempted to change my approach, but I am sticking to my guns with a dream of hunting the Arizona Strip.  Has anyone been drawn to hunt up there with less than 10 Bonus Points?  It just seems like a never ending battle.

I have a friend that has

I have a friend that has drawn that tag twice.  The first time he was a resident of Arizona and the second time as a non-resident after he moved to Colorado so yes it is possible.  He also drew a Utah bison tag with 0 points and a Arizona elk tag for unit 25 with no points.  He is one of the luckiest people that I know of when it comes to drawing a tag.  That is all except for one other person I know that has drawn more once in a lifetime tags than any man should and most of them with very few points.

Sounds like you have a lucky

Sounds like you have a lucky friend.  Sounds like my Dad's friend that got drawn for Vermont moose first time, then waited his mandatory 3 years and applied again.

He got drawn the first time he reapplied. lol

I know someone from here who has hutned the strip, but not sure what it took to draw.  I could find out.

My buddy drew it the first

My buddy drew it the first time he put in for it.

Now were putting in for the kaibab forest 12a, we only have 5 or 6 points now.

I seem to draw the early

I seem to draw the early Kaibab every 6-7 years.  Anything less than 10 years for the late Kaibab or strip is a blessing.

What's that they say about

What's that they say about "the luck of the draw? It sounds like you just need to keep applying and sooner or later the odds will tip in your favor.

I used to know a guy who had hunted for 14 years before he even saw a whitetail buck. He didn't miss one, he didn't blow a chance at getting a shot at one, he just plain never saw one during the first 14 years of his deer hunting career. That was back when Michigan had very limited anterless permits, and he never drew one of those either.  Help!

He finally saw a buck and got it. After that "ice-breaker", his hunting seemd to become more or less normal.

Keep applying and you'll get your tag, too.

That seems to be the norm.

You clearly understand where I'm coming from.  I admire anyone thats been lucky enough to draw the strip or holds out until their day comes.

When talking about multiple

When talking about multiple different states it seems like some people just have exceptional luck. I read an article once about the draws and it said that it is impossible for a computer to be completely random and if you get the right number it can come up more often than others. I don't know if that is true or not but I do know one guy here in Colorado that draws his sheep and goat tag the first time every time after his waiting period is over from the last one.
