The last that I looked 12A took around 5 points so that is all I put in for. I have to build them back up after I dred a unit 33 tag a couple of years ago.

What's the process in Arizona to build pts? Buy pts? No draw=pt? Do you have to fork over huge somes of money in advance of draw with refunds after the draw? I have never looked into this state. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Like a few other states you have to buy a general hunting license witch is $151.25 for a non resident but since I go hunting there every spring I already have the license. Plus if you only put in for a preference point it is $7.50 for the point application.

Thanks, Critter. Can you buy licenses/pts online or do they require hard copy app for this?

Thanks Hoggetter. I guess i'm too late for this year but I'll buy pts starting next year.

Are 12a & 12b some of the better hunts in Az and how many pts do you think it will take to draw a decent area there? I guess I have a couple of years to research before drawing.

The 12A and 12B units also known as ( Kaibab ) are each split with early and late hunts. Its usally take 5-6 points for the early and 11+ for the late hunts.
The 13A and 13B units also known as ( The Strip ) are not split, but is the tuffest to draw 11+ or Never.
The Kaibab forest holds alot of deer and the late hunt is best with the later dates the last half of November.
The Strip now doesnt have as many deer but produces 200" bucks every year.
Non res. get 10% of the tags and 20% of the tags go to max point holders,You get your name in the hat for every point you got, so everybody has a chance.
If you put in for the draw five years in a row you get a loyalty point and if you go to AZ hunters Education course then you get a life time bonus point.

Depending on how lucky you are you could try the Arizona big game super raffle. I have had 2 friends win tags that way. One of them won the optic package and the other a mule deer hunt. The way my luck is I just donate money to them.
