Arizona Applications

If you are interested in hunting Arizona the application period is now open for deer and a few of the other fall hunts.  The application period runs until June 14 and needs to be done through the US mail and in their hands by that date.  Postmarks do not count.  Also for those that don't know you need to buy a general hunting license for $151.25 to enter the draw.

I still want to get over

I still want to get over there for a coues deer and/or javalina hunt some time.

Maybe if I strike out in CO next year, I can get over to Arizona to hunt......

Do you go every year for javalina Critter?

We have been heading to

We have been heading to Arizona for 18 years now chasing the javelina.  For us it started just as a way to get out of the cold here in Colorado but it has turned into an annual fun hunt.  The one nice thing is that with the javelina tag you need the hunting license so that helps out on the other draws and then if you draw a tag the hunting license isn't that bad with at least two tags in hand.  Now if I could just draw a deer or antelope tag that would be a big plus for me.

The only animals in Arizona

The only animals in Arizona that interest me at this time are coues deer and the javelina. I should have made plans for the javelina next year and then put in for the deer to at least gotten a point but I've extended to far for everything and just can't justify the 151 for a license I won't get to use with everything else I've got going on.

I may plan better next year and try to get into an annual javelina hunt like you do while I'm building points for a high quality deer hunt. I'm not even sure what it takes to get a good coues tag or what the better areas are but after my whitetail hunt this year again I'm going to turn my focus in that direction and learn all I can about them. I've hunted Arizona twice and wish I'd had the foresight to apply for the deer when I had the general license then.

Formatting

It seems that the format of this forum is different from the usual forums I post in, and I can't find my comment.

As for hunting along the Mexican Border for Coues Deer, it's like being in Apache country in the 1800's. That's why a lot of locals won't hunt down there and G&F has leftover tags for sale each year.
