Arizona Antelope Auction Tag (Rifle)8/02/05

This morning, August 2, 2005, one of the Arizona Antelope Auction Tags was filled by a client in northeastern Arizona. Preliminary scoring is underway, and I will post that info when it is publicly released. Guides for this buck were provided by Pronghorn Guide Service, a privately owned and operated guide service serving Arizona and neighboring western states. These folks now have 30 bucks scoring over 90 inches to their credit. Here's some pictures.

E-scoring estimates are ranging this buck from 87 - 97 Gross, both B&C and SCI scores. Owner Tony Grimmett, pictured wearing his trademark V-neck white t-shirt, is a legendary icon and mentor in the antelope guide services world.

Preliminary scores indicate 92-2/8" and nets around 91 even. The mass isn't as thin as it looks because of where the measurements fall (his prongs are so high up the horns that the 2nd quarter lands right on top of the prong). Field measurements of each horn on the date of harvest produced 17-4/8 and 17-5/8, however secondary measurements now have them identical at 17 5/8.

Another quality antelope from Coconino County, Arizona. Thumbs up
