Arizona 4A Elk

Anyone wish to share some info on where to hunt some decent 4A bulls? First time drawn for this unit.  Been up to scout a few times, but too many campers.  Any info will be appreciated.

If you wish to get away from

If you wish to get away from the crowd. Try Chevelon Lake area. Plenty of Bulls in the area, and the average Joe will not be around. What time and type of hunt do you have?

take the 225 road at the chevelon work station to the 62 road then head north, towards the end of the road all the little roads off it have good numbers of bulls and not a lot of people.

Nice

Awesome Ram Chompy. What unit did you take that from? It sounds like you know 4a well also.

Best wishes with your hunt. How long did it take you to draw your tag? How's the scouting been going so far? Been seeing any nice bulls?

Up until the last 2 years. I was always making the comment " Those hunters are so lucky". Well I have been one of those lucky hunters the last few years. 2 years ago I was drawn for a 5A Late Rifle Bull tag. That year I took a small Bull on the 5th day of the hunt. That same year my youngest boy drew a Youth Cow tag to which we had a blast but no harvest. Last year with 2 bonus points (loyalty and education point) I drew the Early Rifle Elk Tag ( I know, it was unbelievable!). Thats when I took my ODPB Bull. ODPB stands for Opening Day Pretty Boy. Also last year my youngest son drew an Cow Elk tag again and this time harvested a Cow on the 4th day. This year my Oldest Son (16) drew his first tag, which is an Early Rifle Bull tag. He had 8 points, and my youngest son drew his 3rd tag in a row. But this year he has a Late Rifle Bull Tag. So we have been very fortunate. But I will say it is all carefull planning and a lot of luck. Check out my Gallery for pictures taken from the trail camera we have been putting out for my oldest boys hunt.
