For Colorado all you have to do is show up to a license dealer they are all over the state or go to http://wildlife.state.co.us/Hunting/ and buy it on line. But then you would need to wait for it to show up in the mail. Also if you were born after 1949 you will need a hunter safety certificate. The archery season goes from today 8/29 to 9/27

REALLY cool so i can show up today in CO at one of those dealers and buy a license. and Go out and shoot a Bull Elk tomorrow if I wanted? Do I have that right? Also is an archery tag a state wide tag or do i have to pick a unit?

The archery elk tag is good for about 75% of the state west of I-25, and yes you can drive out here tomorrow, buy a license and then go out and try to shoot a bull, no bull. But you really need to get the Colorado DOW hunting book and read it to see just where you can and can't go. It would be the pits for you to end up in a limited license area with a unlimited tag and get nailed by an officer of the DOW. There is also a lot of other information in the book also. Such as if you are bringing an ATV into the state it needs to be registered in Colorado by the Parks Department, if bringing horses you need certified weed free hay or pellets, this along with other information in in the proclamation.

yeah i plan on picking up a few proclamations when i start heading out there to scout exactly where I want to hunt. Im not driving that far and going in the woods blind. I wnat to have it all mapped out and know where elk should be and also a few back up spots
