My buddy got a decent little

My buddy got a decent little 5x5 three hours into the hunt and put a damper on my hunt due to the heat. We left after we packed it out to preserve the meat. All I can say is get up the mountain the rewards outweigh the cost.

I was

on the mountain from last Sat.  thru Friday morning. Monday morning saw five bulls a 5x5 a small 6x6 and 3 absolute monsters the biggest had to be at least 350-360. They busted me walking up the trail at barely first shooting light. I finally got two different bulls to talk to me Thursday morn but niether would commit. Gotta work the next two weeks then heading back up for five days after the 15th. Also saw numerous mulie bucks and four real hogs but no deer tag. Also saw a huge herd of bighorn sheep lambs and ewes. Cant wait to get back!!!!!!!

got my bull!!!

got my bull on sunday morning. never did get the bull I saw on the second day. I found him a few more times but could never get a shot. Sunday I went to a different spot, and set up on some ledges on top of a mountain. Sun came up and the elk were below me and the bedding area behind me, wind in my face! They committ left of the cliffs so I move down to intersept. I set up so there was little chance of them coming up behind and catching my wind but as elk do they found the only gap in the ledges and got above me. They busted me but instead of running the other way they tried to circle below me. He headed rite for a tree that I had just ranged at 60 yards, was just comming to a stop and looking up the hill to see what was there and whack. steep downhill, quartered away a little and the arrow hit just below the back strap and about four inches behind the shoulder, he went down. As fast as he went down he got up, stumbled about five yards and down again. does this again but on the last crash he ended up in a dead cedar tree on his back with his horns stuck under the tree, he couldn't get up. So, I got basketball size rocks rolling down the hill, tree branches flying through the air, and me running down the hill trying to knock another arrow. I finally get within twenty yards and put a second arrow in him and its over.6+6 score: 296
