Aoudad Hunting

My post may be a little to late.  If you have not found the Aoudad hunt you have been looking for, checkout www.indianheadranch.com.  We do have recordbook Aoudad. We are located about 15 miles out of Del Rio, Texas.

New Mexico also has hunts for Audad/Barbary Sheep. Some of these NM tags are over the counter.

Hope this helps. Thumbs up

So there are wild audad sheep on PUBLIC land in Texas. I thought that these and other exotics were hunted on private ranches. I think I would be much more likely to make a trip down there to hunt them if they were on public ground. Is there that much public land down there? Are the patches very large or is it more patchy? How much is a non-resident tag?

Hey Hawkeye, from what my buddies have told me, I would look into the New mexico option, like prhunter wrote.  It's public land and over the counter, and I have heard it's a decent size herd running around.

:DYou will find all the answers to your questions at the website I posted.

There is not much public land in TX but there are WMA (wildlife management areas) which hold some public hunting using the lottery system.

Only a hunting license is required to take exotics in TX. Check out this link for license fees:

Happy Hunting!

I'll have to look into the New mexico option, I'd wanna hunt them on public land, I'm not much of a ranch hunter. they just seem to be a fun animal to hunt, atleast from what I've seen on TV. I think they calle dthem the poor mans sheep, I think i fit that catagory.LOL. We'll just have to fihure out prices, i really dont wanna dump a ton of money into. with my luck that would be the year i actually draw a sheep tag in my home state and woulkd have to cancell my out of state hunt.LOL
