Anywhere, any elk.......

I am a member of a more localized site in the Northeast, and one of the members posted this today.  He's from Maine, so it'd be good to have some more local knowledge.  Seems like a once in a lifetime chance, so I wan't to try and get him some good recommendations.  I'd like to hear from the regular guys, not someone with 1-2 posts, obviously trying to pimp their guide service.  Here is his post..... What do you guys think?

Had a once in a life time offer dropped in my lap today ! I good buddy of mines wife tells me she wants to send her husband on an elk hunt for there 25 wedding anniversary which is this year and she can't take the time from work to go with him , so she wants me to go ! She tells me to start researching and find a good state as well as outfitter and don't worry about the cost so I'm looking for any suggestions if any of you guys have been and had an enjoyable hunt .

The outfitter that I used on

The outfitter that I used on my bear hunt is a top notched outfitter and they offer elk hunts in British Colombia. If I wanted to go on a wilderness elk hunt I would defiantly go with them again.

Big ranches

Some of the RFWs in Southern Colorado and New Mexico, like the Hill Ranch and Vermejo Park are fantastic if you want to see a ton of game, plus huge bulls.

Wow, that almost sounds too

Wow, that almost sounds too good to be true. I would jump on that in a heart beat. Only place I can suggest is the only guide I have ever used. Elk Springs Outfitters out of Idaho. You can do a combo elk/deer/bear/wolf hunt with him so it makes for more options. If you want more info send me a PM.

I'd seriously look into the

I'd seriously look into the Ranching for Wildlife RFW ranches in Colorado like exbiologist mentioned or find good landowner tags in New Mexico. The CO ones definitely have hunts during the rut that are hard to beat, but I'm not sure about NM. Those are probably your two best bets for a great elk hunt within the US.

Thanks Henry.  Got your PM.

Thanks Henry.  Got your PM.  I haven't logged on to the other site in 3-4 days, so I will check in with him and see how the search is coming along.
