Trouthunter-
You should be accumulating as many points in as many states as possible starting now. Like you, I am young and have time on my side. I did a lot of research on all of the states that have seasons on sheep. I've sorted out all the details and complied them in a database. I was able to build points in a number of states this year for a minimal investment. If you would like any info on particular states or some pointers on where to apply, email me at This goes for anyone else as well. Thanks,
-MNHunter

the Montana tag in the unlimited area is a guaranteed tag and it costs 753$ the season stays open till the quota is filled,i know a guy whos wife killed a full curl ram last year on the first day,its all about scouting and its tough country to hunt.He killed a legal ram 2 years ago in the first week and his buddy killed a full curl the next day.

I've thought about the unlimited area of Montana but I don't want to burn my points on it. Also, not a lot of information out there on the areas, thanks for reporting on your friends' sucess NONYA

have you applied for bh tags in the last 2 years here in mt?Im not sure that the bonus points apply to the gauranteed unlimited areas because there is no way you can get the points with this tag so i doubt the could take them from you if you applied for one.

Nonya,
Yes, I 've applied the last 2 years in Montana. I just looked at the regsand it doesnt say anything about using points, only that you cannot apply for any other hunt besides the unlim. I think I may have read in the Huntin' Fool about losing your points. If you have info to the contray, that would be great.... I'd probably go in 06!
