Anyone starting a hunting homestead lifestyle?

Hello fellow forum members.. Yes

I'm looking to make contact with people that are about to start a homestead/self-sufficent lifestyle in the American/Canadian wilderness- wanting to hunt for their food etc!
Does this sound like you or anyone you know? Please get in touch if so - private message or charlotte.w-robinson@ricochet.co.uk .

I'm working on a new TV series for Discovery and we're looking for the people taking on this permanent lifestyle as well as experts to give advice.

I look forward to hearing from you..
Best wishes,
Charlotte

I dont know of anywhere you are allowed to hunt year around unless you are a member of an indian tribe.

Might want to try finding a bush pilot forum or contacting pilots in the Alaska, Yukon, or NWT areas. I suspect these folks would be at a better vantage point to locate individuals for you. Good luck, sounds like an interesting feature!

Thanks guys for your replies.
Great suggestion to try the pilot forums - will do!
re: hunting seasons limiting the hunting for all year round, I'm keen to hear from people moving to any parts of the states (from Alaska right down to Texas) and hear about their homestead plans for hunting as well as growing their crops etc. Self-suffiency is key!
All help is very gratefully appreciated..
Charlotte

That really sounds like an interesting project. For the right amount of money I'll do it! I can't wait till it airs, sounds really cool.

I know quite a few people who hunt for food year round and live in a little shack type structure, usualy with a wood stove and a bed and a rifle and a shotgun plus some pans and a saw is what they usualy got rom for
plus a little counter. Im not sure if they are aloud to hunt year round, but i know if you have a certifacate of indian status (treaty card) you can.

Tell you what charlotte, the people you are looking for are positively not going to be on line. That is one of the things a true woods/huntsman tries to stay away from. I was planning on following that dream but it's probably gonna take some thirty years to talk my new wife into it. She's in love with the idea but that's as far as it will probably go. I'll be lucky to even get back to Alaska, heck I'd settle for Montana right now. Sorry off the subject. Honestly just do what I did get to a small town like Hope, Alaska or Blane, Montana and just hit a bar. That is were reality rarely hides.
