Since moving i can't shoot in the backyard. The houses are too close together. So I found that I can shoot in the basement to keep sharp when I can't make the trek to the range. I can get 11 -13 yards in the basement. It is good enough to work on form and release. The wife wasn't too happy when she found out what I was doing.

I know of a number of hunters
I know of a number of hunters that shoot in their basements for the same reason that you do. I just wished that mine was large enough to do it, but then I can take a 10 minute drive and be in the country to where I can shoot anything that I want and it doesn't bother folks.
I have always had a dream of owning a home with enough property to where I could set up a 50 yard shooting tunnel along with being able to shoot my bow inside. Perhaps after this Saturday when I will the PowerBall I may be able to do that.

I remember the day I got
I remember the day I got caught by the Mrs. I normally only shot when she wasn't home, but one day I picked up the bow and started shooting. When I came out of the unfinished side of the basement where i shoot I was greeted by my mother, er I mean my wife with her hands on her hips. Please tell me that you weren't over there shooting you bow? At that point I went deaf so I can't tell you what else she said, but she wasn't happy with me. I made sure that it is safe and I won't do any damage. I have a 3 D target I shoot with lots of foam and carboard and wood behind it to protect the concrete wall from damage. I also make sure, which is good practice anyway, to draw the bow level and with the arrow pointing at the target to make sure that if there is an accidental discharge it goes into the target and not the ceiling. I've seen them in the ceiling at the indoor bow range where I go sometimes.

I used to shoot in the basement all the time. I could get about 20 yards before I finished part of it off. Now I could only get 15 or so. So I just shoot in the backyard or head to the range which is only 5 minutes away.

I used to be able to shoot
I used to be able to shoot outside before I moved. It was nice as there was a field behind my house. If I went to the front of the house and shot toward the back I could shoot 50 yards with no worry about what might happen if I missed. But where i live now, the houses are too close together and I doubt my telling the neighbors don't worry, I never miss would appease them. I do miss being able to walk out back and shoot. I belong to an outdoor range, but is is now an hour away so I have to shoot inside if I want to shoot every day.

My wife would never tolerate
My wife would never tolerate me shooting in the living room so you're a lucky guy.
Being able to shoot in the house helps me keep that muscle memory sharp and my form good.
