Anyone Rendezvous?

The wife and myself just got back from the NMLRA (National Muzzle Loading Rifle Assocation) Northeastern Rendezvous at Naples NY. Any one else do primitive camping/shooting events?
It was a great time and the weather was fine. We had to leave a few days early do to the work thing and that always stinks.

Looks like ya had a hoot! What rifle is that? I think about black powder now and then but never get around to it.

It is a TVM (Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading) http://www.avsia.com/tvm/ "Southern Poor Boy" in 50 cal. It is a real shooter, I put a patched round ball (lubed with rendered bear fat of course) on top of 100 grs of "two F" balck powder and prime the pan with "four F"

Anyone Rendezvous?

I haven't done any rendezvousing. I started muzzleloading a few years ago and I'm slowly working into the primative stuff. I've made a tarp tent. Even spent a few nights in it. I can make char cloth and know how to use it. Burned a good portion of my beard learning how to make a fire.

I would love to do a rendezvous but these ol' bones are getting a little to old to rough it for very long at a time.

Thanks for sharing those photos. Looks like you were having a great time.

NMLRA (National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association) has a website with some events and a listing of clubs (by state ?) that are members. I know that New York has a State club NYSMLRA I do not know about MIchigan. Best thing to do, start doing some google searches. There are a lot of small events out there put on by small clubs that dont have associations or websites and these you just have to find out about by word of mouth. Sportsmans clubs are a good place to start?

I've been thinking about doing the rendezvous hunt held here in NH. It's every October, and sounds like a blast. Fish and Game even attends the event. It's held in the White Mountain National Forest, but I can't remember who sponsors the hunt.

Tom, the Lapeer Sportsmans Club is having a Traditional rendezvous the Weekend of Aug 25/26th. That is Exit 163 on I-69 (Attica Exit) It is more of a primitive archery event but there is a Buckskinner group at that club and they are always there and happy to introduce interested folks to Rendezvousing.
