I don't think there's too many of us on here but I'm from the Lancaster area and definitely archery hunt. I got out Saturday and saw two small fork horns and 3 doe. Didn't get to let one go but was still an awesome day in the stand.
Haven't hunted PA in nearly 20 years, since my uncle was still alive down south of Pittsburgh. Loved hunting the old mining land. Never did get a deer, but loved shooting the fox squirrels. Like Grey squirrels on steroids.....
Those things are huge. I swear one tried to carry me off one day after I put it in my game pouch and it wasn't quite dead :P The only thing I hate about them is when I'm deer hunting. They run across the ground and are so load they sound liek a deer coming. Of course I start to ignore the sounds and the next thing you know the one sound I ignore is actually a deer and it's usually too late.
Accuracy. What an incredible way to give yourself a true advantage.
Go to your club and get a bunch of guys together - and put a target out there at 250 meters. Break out the deer rifles and see who can shoot a decent group, even off of the bench, at this distance. I think you will be shocked at how few can do it.
So - with that in mind, I recently set out to try to develop a semi-custom rifle that I could afford and that would shoot - repeatedly - at MOA.
I started with a platform that I love...
