August 7th added tags. I have entered for a doe in area 08 but will be hunting before hand in area 13. What can I apply for on this date and where do I Get these tags? Can you explain how these extra tags can be used? i,e, buck ,doe between the two areas. When I bought my first tag they did not have the regs in yet and have not had the time to get one.
Thank-you

Deer populations in Ontario have flourished in recent years,
leading to significant crop damage and increased deer/vehicle
collisions in some areas.
When deer populations in certain Wildlife Management Units
warrant, hunters may be offered the opportunity to purchase
game seals to harvest additional deer. In offering these game
seals for sale, limits will apply on both the total number of
seals a hunter may purchase and the number of seals a hunter
may purchase for any one Hunt Code. The table to the right
shows the WMUs in Ontario in which it is anticipated a limited
number of additional game seals will be offered in 2007.
For most of these WMUs additional game seals will be
sold by automated telephone system only from August
7-31, 2007, on a first come, first served basis,
at 1-800-288-1155.
In early August, hunters who purchased an additional deer seal
in 2006 will be mailed a brochure confirming the WMUs that
will offer additional deer seals and containing the hunt codes
required to use this system. (If you do not receive a brochure,
please call the Outdoors Card Centre at 1-800-387-7011.) Cost
of the additional deer seal for residents is $34.58 plus GST.
If a WMU has any game seals remaining for sale after August
31, they will be sold at selected ServiceOntario offices starting
September 5. Note that the limits mentioned above remain in
effect during this over-the-counter sales period.

Additional seals for Controlled Deer Hunts will be sold
in October as outlined in the brochure. Hunters must
possess a Controlled Deer Hunt Validation Tag along with
their additional game seal to hunt with their additional
seal during the Controlled Deer Hunt Season. Changes are
proposed that would permit more WMUs to offer additional game seals for deer.
Please refer to the brochure that will be mailed in early August for more information.
[b]NOTE: An additional game seal for deer is NOT a deer
licence. An additional game seal for deer is valid only if the hunter possesses a current deer licence.

Your doe tag is good for buck or doe in WMU 8. If you hunt WMU 13 you can only shoot a buck unless you purchase an additional anterless seal for WMU 13.
Pain in the butt and expensive - however that's the way it works. When I lived in Ottawa I lived almost right on top of the intersections of WMU 64A/B and 63B, and I had a hunting spot in each unit. Each year I bought had to buy 2 extra doe tags, (even though I would only ever take one animal) just to be sure I could harvest either buck or doe in any of the spots I was hunting
Anterless seals are available by phone or mailing an order up to a certain date. After that date any remaining tags are sent to the local MNR office which governs the WMU in question where they can be purchased over the counter.

And I could have swore you cut and paste a section out of the 2006 regulations, without directly answering the question was his doe tag for WMU 8 also valid in WMU 13, which as an expert on Ontario hunting you obviously know that it isn't. It's only valid for does in WMU 8.

I misunderstood what he was asking I didnt think he was asking if he could use a doe tag drawn in a special draw for a certain area in a totally different area with a totally different draw, Obviously the answer is No you use the tag specified for the region it is specified and saskie for your info Its from the 2007 regs and last time I checked your from saskatchewan not ontario the expert on ontario from saskatchewan heh Thumbs up

Atomikall - I'm more than a little surprised by your hostility.

I never claimed to be an expert on Ontario hunting - I just answered the man's question, based on the knowledge I gained from when I did live in Ontario (where I was living when you joined the board - remember?)

It's one of the "many" advantages of being in the Cdn Forces - due the frequent postings not only do you get to uproot your family you also get to live and hunt in many provinces: BC, SK, NS and ON.
